Security

There was a break-in and death in the apartments where I live: I felt very afraid and alone.

Money gets low, and I feel very afraid and alone.

The refrigerator gets empty, and I feel very afraid or alone.

Work is in short supply. I feel very afraid and alone.

Fear and loneliness have been patterns in my life. But, I rare acknowledge them. Today during my prayer time, however, God showed me that they are still core issues in my life and they must be dealt with.

Because I am in Christ, there's only one way to do that: with his word. So, I spent some time this morning looking up biblical scriptures on safety and security in God.

After trying everything else, I know Christ is my greatest hope.

I used to think, "If only I were married, my husband would protect me."

But what if he's scared too?

In the six years since I've been self-employed, I've thought, "If only I had a regular job, I'd have money and I'd be OK."

But I had that once too - and in a weekend it was all gone.

So, what's safe? Who is secure?

God is.

He alone is ever true, ever faithful, ever kind, ever present and ever real. And, his word can not fail. I pray it encourages you as it has encouraged me this morning.

Know that I love you each, L.

He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek. (Hebrews 16: 18-20)
